Before Sunday's Premier League match between his side and Arsenal, a Manchester United fan in Eldoret almost perished while completing a dangerous bet he made.

If Arsenal won, Thomas Kiptanui Kemboi had committed to eating an entire crate of hard-boiled eggs. There are 30 eggs in a crate.

As it turned out, Arsenal defeated Manchester United 3-1 in a nail-biting game in which the Gunners scored two goals in stoppage time just as it looked like the game would end in a draw.

Kemboi, also referred to as Kapkeno, claimed he was forced to keep his promise.

"I followed the game and saw that it was all gone. After they beat us 3-1, I did not want to fail my fans," Kapkeno, a secular artiste, said in an interview with the Standard.

"So, it was just pressure from the fans so I ate the eggs. But on the count of 15, I started feeling too much heat in the body then I lost consciousness," he said.

"I regained consciousness while in hospital."

A person's chance of developing heart diseases is increased if they consume an excessive amount of eggs, which can raise harmful cholesterol levels.

According to research, eating up to two eggs a day is sufficient for most people and helps to improve heart health.

However, eating too many eggs, particularly for those who have specific medical issues, may present some risks.

Egg consumption may need to be restricted, particularly for those at risk of diabetes or cardiovascular disease.

Rewinding to the Arsenal vs. Man Utd game, the lukewarm contest erupted into a full-fledged thriller after Marcus Rashford gave the visitors the lead after 27 minutes.

Just two minutes later, Martin Odegaard was assisted by Gabriel Martinelli, who then beat the United custodian to score an equaliser.

Early in the second half, a penalty awarded to Arsenal was overturned, and late in the game, Alejandro Garnacho's goal for United was disallowed for offside.

The bitter rivals appeared to be sharing the spoils at the Emirates Stadium until the unbelievable occurred during extra time.

Declan Rice's deflected strike from a Bukayo Saka corner that beat Cameroonian custodian André Onana at the near post sparked wild celebrations in the Emirates, and substitute Gabriel Jesus' display of individual brilliance on a rapid counterattack sealed the victory.

As the Brazilian received a through ball from Fabio Vieira in the middle, he calmly collected it, continued past Diogo Dalot, kept his composure inside the box, sent Dalot sliding the wrong way, and then fired a low effort past an unprepared Onana to the far post to put an end to Manchester United's hopes.
