Ayub has risen through the ranks in journalism and has previously worked for EBRU TV before joining K24.

Ayub joined Citizen in August this year from K24, as its chief political journalist. He was feted by KOT as a journalist who bravely and rightly handled the debate involving IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and K24 CEO Hussein Marjan, over the vetting and awarding of a mega tender to Smartmatic elections company.

He also exposed the Dutch company's failure to properly manage polls in Uganda, the Phillippines, and the US. The episode was televised on major broadcast outlets among them Citizen TV.
