Man in court demands role in lady's pregnancy journey

A man want the court to direct his baby mama involve him in her pregnancy

โ€ข The soon to be dad told the court he feels left out yet is ready to be present.

Some couples have embraced surrogacy to sire kids.

A man's role in the pregnancy, labour and delivery of his child cannot be underscored. A Kenyan man named in court documents as EMM wants a judge to grant him those rights.

EMM in the document has told the court that partner JNC who is pregnant with twins to allow him to be with her during this journey.

EMM argues that the respondent, JNC, has  brushed off any of his  requests to be actively involved.

"The respondent has consistently rejected to associate me or let me in with the pregnancy journey despite having full knowledge that I have been desirous of having children and becoming a father and a present one at that," said EMM.

The man has told the court that that he needs to feel a part of the journey too.

"I have responsibilities over the unborn children which responsibilities the respondent is blocking me from doing. I, therefore, pray that this court compels the respondent to allow me to be present during the pregnancy journey and be present after the expected twin babies have been born."

The man and woman met two years ago, as documents further reveal. EMM and JNC began dating and sadly broke up in 2022. They ended their relationship this February.

EMM said that during their relationship, the couple suffered two miscarriages before they succeeded for the third time.

He said he wants to be present for this lucky pregnancy up to her due date.

"I am constantly stressed and worried about the safety and future of my babies as I have been left in the dark on the pregnancy journey, despite the full knowledge that I have been desirous of having children," said EMM.

High Court Judge Mugure Thande who presided over the ruling admitted that he was bewildered by the matter, citing that most men opt to flee from a relationship whenever their lovers are pregnant.

"The petitioner/applicant is aware that life begins at conception as per provisions of Article 26 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and that he is keen to be present in the lives of his unborn children," said Justice Thande.
