During the recently finished 94th Music Festival in Kisumu, a Form 4 student caught the of deputy president Rigathi Gachagua with her wonderful voice so much so that he promised to totally support her education.
The blind student sang passionately and mesmerized the DP with her talent.
"I have listened to a student in Form 4 from the Thika School of the visually impaired by the name June. I have heard the most melodious voice I have ever had in my life," Gachagua stated while closing the festival at Kisumu Girls High School on Friday, September 23
"In recognition of this melody and to encourage the young girl, I will take over her education up to where she goes," the DP added.
Gachagua praised the organizers earlier in his remarks for organizing and managing the event, which he described as a success.
Additionally, he thanked the national government officials—from police commanders and chiefs—for working with the organizers to develop the youngsters' skill.
"May I encourage our teachers to continue doing the good job they are doing in harnessing the talent of our young people through co-curricular activities," he added.
Gachagua claimed to have been moved by a variety of plays and poems and to have been thrilled to watch the pupils use their gifts.
He urged pupils to keep using their imaginations and to look for novel methods to make ends meet. One of the best examples, according to Gachagua, is the musician Charles Njagua Kanyi, also known as Jaguar. The most recent MP for Starehe is Jaguar.
