 • In November 2021, President Kenyata signed the law of succession (Amendment) Bill into law. This law locks out mpango wa kandos from inheriting a dead lover's estate.

On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta called on men not to squander their money on side chics and instead prioritise their families.

Uhuru who was speaking at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre noted that men have a habit of sharing good moments with their clandes leaving their families wallowing in poverty.

"Pesa ikiingia, akipitia mtaani anakutwa na kengine hapo. Anasahau yule aliwacha nyumbani, mali inaisha, unawacha familia na watoto wakifilisika… jameni wazee tubadilike…" he said.

Loosely translates to: "When some men get money, they go for secret lovers in the streets. They forget they left their wives at home. They spend all the cash leaving their families in poverty... please men, let's change".

A section of Kenyans however didn't receive the head of the state's message positively, with many lamenting the current cost of living saying it hinders one from affording a secret lover leave alone basic commodities.
