Award-winning actress Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress has finally addressed the move to cosmetically lose weight using the gastric balloon procedure.
Intragastric balloon placement is a weight-loss procedure that involves placing a saline-filled silicone balloon in your stomach. This helps you lose weight by limiting how much you can eat and making you feel fuller faster.
This balloon is placed in your stomach during a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure. The process of getting a balloon isn't quite a surgery, but it has the effect of shrinking your stomach temporarily so you eat less and lose weight.
Due to the cost of the balloon and the fact that ultimately, you'll need to have the balloon removed. It's also a temporary procedure, only lasting six months at a time.
Speaking to her fans via an Instagram post, Kate explained, "There are so many questions on my DM saying, 'Kate, why are you doing this? You have a good body it is perfect!'"
She explained, "Guys because you feel someone else's body is perfect I don't feel that way. I feel like the elephant I saw in the Ark [movie]."
The Plan B actress added, "This is the heaviest I have been, I know this is not a quick fix. You guys know, for the past 6 months I have been in and out of the gym. I have tried and there was no change. It is not that I don't like my body. I don't feel healthy."
She noted that the main reason she needs to lose weight and ton her body at the gym is to advance her career.
"There are roles I would like to play, that I feel I'm ready for, but I feel I would be more confident and sexy if I was a few kilograms lighter. This [gastric balloon procedure] is to kickstart a journey that I had already started."
Kate however noted that "I refuse to lose my curves, I will do those squares."
