Dark underarms can result from a couple of things. To some, especially if you’re of a lighter skin tone it may be embarrassing.

Till now I don’t know why but society made it a crime to have darker underarms and there are chances of one getting trolled online over this tiny, naturally occurring little detail.

Worry not though, I’ve come to the rescue if you’ve been looking for a solution.

Below are a few ways of dealing with this menace

  • Try waxing

Stop shaving with razors, instead, try waxing or laser hair removal

  • Exfoliate

Use a gentle body scrub to exfoliate your underarms at least two times a week.

  • Try a hypoallergenic antiperspirant

This doesn’t have chemical irritants that may be affecting your skin

  • Use baking soda

Mix baking soda mixed with water to create a thick paste, consecutively apply the paste to your underarms twice a week. Let it sit for 20 mins before washing it off.

  • Coconut oil

It’s on this list because of its popular natural skin lightening agent, vitamin E. Massage your underarms with coconut oil daily and leave it in for 15 minutes then wash it off with warm water.

  • Lemon juice

Lemon is one of the best-known natural bleaching agents. Although it’s a little bit strong so as a PSA don’t use plain fresh lemon juice on your face.

Moving on, slice your lemon and rub half of it on the dark area for about 2-3 minutes before you hop into the shower.

  • Potato juice

Potato juice is known to be a great natural bleach. You can place thinly cut circular pieces of potatoes on your underarms but for best results, it is encouraged to grate and then squeeze the potato juice. Apply the juice to your underarms and leave it for 10-15 minutes then rinse it off. For effective results, it’s encouraged to use it twice a day.

  • Yogurt

Mix a paste of natural yoghurt mixed with freshly squeezed lemon juice, turmeric, and besan. Apply and leave it for around 20 minutes. Wash it off with warm water.

Repeat the process daily, for a week or two, preferably before your shower time in order to see results.

Note: Don’t leave the pastes on your skin longer than the allocated time.

Don’t use two of the pastes together or mix methods, for a week just stick to something and see if it works for you.

If you experience irritation or burning quickly wash off the remedy you’re currently on.
