• An increase in the cost of fuel shall have a ripple effect on the economy. It shall increase the cost of transport and production. - Kenya Association of Manufacturers chairman Mucai Kunyiha
Kenyans are not happy with the rise in the price of a litre of super petrol and diesel.
The Sh5 rise is very steep and is a result of the ongoing Russia/Ukraine crisis hits home.
Fuel consumers in Kenya have for the past five months been shielded from rising global oil prices by the government through a subsidy fund introduced in July last year.
Now, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) indicated it would be difficult to sustain the subsidy as global prices skyrocket due to the Russia/Ukraine crisis.
Kenyans should brace themselves as the rising cost of living will also be on the rise.
"An increase in the cost of fuel shall have a ripple effect on the economy. It shall increase the cost of transport and production. This translates to an increase in the cost of finished goods, including those used in the household," Kenya Association of Manufacturers chairman Mucai Kunyiha said.
