Police officials said Juma was slashed to death by the assailant on Wednesday at around 11 pm.
His wife Farida Juma says he passed on later yesterday night in Mumias, Kakamega.
Police said they have arrested a suspect over the attack.
Juma was a passionate football lover and religiously supported the national team, Harambee Stars.
