On Tuesday, a drug tested in Kenya to prevent HIV was approved in the USA.
Through getting Apretude or Cabotegravir once every two months HIV negative people will prevent themselves from getting the infection.
The pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)'s administration will begin with two injections in the buttocks administered one month apart, and then an injection every two months.
The news of this medical invention sparked reactions among many Kenyans.
Questions arose on whether Kenyans, including those who are skeptical to get the Covid-19 vaccine would wish to get Apretude or Cabotegravir, which would prevent them from contracting HIV.
Mpasho engaged netizens to find out if they would get the injection.
Here are some of the reactions ;
@Lily - "I’m not boarding. Stay faithful with one partner and use double protection."
@ Mbuya - "I am not in a relationship now, not active sexually, the last relationship i happened to be i was messy, did my HIV test three months after quitting just to make sure am ok. I think this will be good for the ones in a relationship and are always doubting their partner, aki the fear of having a cheating partner sucks."
@ Njeets - "Wear a condom, this a scam."
@ Mercy - "Hio hata wakisema 10 injection I will."
@ Felix - "Kama sijaenda kupata vaccine sasa hii nitaweza kweli."
@ Steph - "Wameona vaccine theory ain't working😂😂so they know this will touch many."
@ Njogu - "Why does it smell like there’s already a vaccine for HIV but they don’t want to release?? They’ve found malarial, covid … kwani hii ya HIV ndio ina patikana ya by monthly?? Anyways, can we just live a drug free life . Everywhere you turn lately it’s just inject this inject that…"
