Radio king Maina Kageni has advised Kenyans to acknowledge that abuse can be verbal or emotional and not physical as always assumed.

Maina says it's time people spoke up against abuse whether meted out by a man or a woman.

"We need to find a way to find a solution to toxicity because we will end up killing each other.

Abuse can be emotional, a partner who constantly puts you down, always provoking you. You stay thinking he will change. It's never that serious," he explained.

Mwalimu says the reason men end up doing crazy stuff is that society expects them to be strong even in tough circumstances.

"Men are also very affected, they get hurt it's just that they do not know how to express themselves.

That is why most end up doing crazy things.

Back in the day men would beat up their women but it no longer happens.

Men have no one to talk to. There is no money the economy is bad so there is too much pressure."

Below is the audio of  Kenyans sharing their experiences in a toxic relationship, one says lost 4 teeth in one incident.

Maina kageni: A toxic relationship doesn't necessarily have to be physical its also emotional.
