• Laventa says that Omanyala's brothers were excited about the news and became supportive.
Laventa, the girlfriend of Kenyan sprint sensation Ferdinand Omanyala has opened up on scary moments after she became pregnant.
In an interview with Lynn Ngugi, Laventa shared that she freaked out after getting pregnant in 2018.
At the time, she was a social worker at Mama Lucy Hospital, and at the same time undertaking her studies.
"I didn't tell my family. My mum would have killed me because the dream of every parent is to see their child finish school get a job and do a wedding.
We were both in school and were afraid of how our families would react," she narrated.
However, Omanyala gathered the courage to talk to her brothers about the issue.
Laventa says that Omanyala's brothers were excited about the news and became supportive.
While she was 6 months pregnant, the couple moved in together and Laventa would work and pay their bills.
While celebrating his record-breaking performance at the Kasarani stadium last week, the sprinter thanked his girlfriend for being his pillar when he was down.
“She was paying the rent, taking care of the bills because she was working. She would bring the money to the table and say, this is for training, rent and food,” Omanyala said.
