In 2011, Wema Sepetu was reported to have been physically abused by Diamond Platnumz. At the time, the two were dating and photos of a bruised  Wema Sepetu went viral on social media.

Fans called out the singer but he has never confirmed nor denied the allegations.

Well, Wema in a recent social media post said that she likes when a man beats her up and then pacifies her later.

"Nakumbuka zamani wakati naanza mapenzi na mwanaume flani, alishanitamkia hajawahi na hatowahi kumpiga mwanamke... Ila kwangu bwana akagonga mwamba na hicho kiapo... Kiukweli nili enjoy sana."

(I remember when I fell in love with a certain man, he told me he would never beat up a woman. Then he beat me up, I enjoyed it)

"Moral of the story: Kupigwa na baby wako kuna raha yake, haswa pale kwenye kubembelezana... Ila sasa sio tupigane kama wezi... Kidogo tu sio mbaya... Alafu iwe mara moja moja sio Daily..."

(Being beaten by your baby has its own joy, especially when he starts pacifying you, But not being beaten like a thief, just a little. And should do just once, not daily)

"Sio lazima wote tufanane... Kuna wasio penda kupigwa ila as for me, kushtua shtua one tym one tym is very Healthy jamani...."

(We can't all be the same, there are those that don't like it but for me, its very healthy.)

When fans called her out for normalising domestic violence and abuse, Wema insisted that she loves when her lover disciplines her.

"Alafu pia kitu kingine, Mi sijasema "Wanawake tupigwe!!!" Nimeongelea tu personally kuwa I tend to like it... But pia ukinipiga ujue unanipiga as ur lover cause the aftermath ya kubembelezana huwa ni nzuri.... Aaah wabongo mmezidi kunionea bwana.... Yaani hii kitu imekuwa turned kama ile ya Mama Kanumba.... Wema asiseme kitu.... Kosa...!!! Asifanye kitu.... Kosa..... !!! Ntashindwa jamani... Hata nia yangu haikuwa hio.... Nimejisemea tu kitu napenda.... Nako ni Kosa....!!!!"

(And another thing, I haven't said that women should be beaten. I have just spoken personally that I tend to like it. And when you beat me, you know you are beating me as your lover because the aftermath of pacifying me is good.)

Sepetu has been called out by many Tanzanians asking her to apologize as this is a way of promoting violence against women.

She also confirmed that indeed Diamond was the one who beat her in 2011.
