"Loliondo's treatment made me believe I was HIV- for 2 years," Doreen Moracha reveals

Ambilikile Mwasapila aka Babu wa Loliondo passed on yesterday. The man who was a retired Lutheran rural pastor from Tanzania, became East Africa's most recognisable television personality and healer in 2011.

He'd had dreams in which God revealed the recipe for herbal medicine that could cure any ailment.

He was so popular that even former Tanzanian president John Magufuli allegedly paid him a visit at the height of his fame.

And that isn't the only famous person that Loliondo was able to coax into believing. AYP Advocacy AWARD Winner Doreen Moracha also was taken by his "gospel".

In a Facebook post she made today, Moracha remembered meeting Loliondo, believing that she was cured of HIV after visiting him and even stopped taking her ARV medication for two years.

"Babu wa Loliondo made me believe I was HIV free for 2 years. I stopped "drinking" ARVs anyhow. Earth is hard," she posted on Facebook.

But after the deaths of several HIV-positive patients who had abandoned ARV's his act was up with many abandoning his method.

She explained that the reason she had visited the "healer" was because of the stigmatisation that she had faced for a long time.

"When I faced all of this, I felt like I had to do something, I had to change my situation. Sometimes the universe hears us and yes the universe heard me and I saw Babu wa Loliondo on TV," she said.

She said that she then decided to stop going to the hospital in case the doctors realised she had stopped taking her medication.

But after she fell sick, she went back.
