Jelagat sticking with Prof Hamo despite his nonsense should be praised!

Professor Hamo and his second wife, Jelagat were at each other's necks earlier in the year.

Their(a relationship which had been well-hidden until then) shocked many fans who were caught off-guard after the public mud-slinging that ensued.

But despite how bad the fight looked, the two decided to makeup, something that has become increasingly rare in many marriages/relationships.

People walk away from relationships(and marriages) nowadays like they are changing jobs, which is sad if you ask me.

And why did Jelagat decide to stay with Hamo? She explained that he had seen the error of his ways and had made things right with her and their kids.

She said that his determination to mend fences was a factor in her giving him another chance adding that having a young family also contributed to that decision.

"I realized tulikuwa na mistakes sisi wote wawili, juu ilifika mahali communication yetu ikakuwa mbaya and it led to vitu zote zilitokea. Juu sisi wote tulikuwa na mistake. Yes, I forgave him, juu hata yeye alini-forgive."

I will not lie to you, I am glad that Jemutai decided to take the high road and keep their family together.

It was(and still is) an unpopular position for many but I think she did the right thing.

Hamo might have behaved like a cad(before the public shaming) but he has decided to do the right thing. (Don't forget that there are many Kenyan men who don't mind being called deadbeats!)

There are some who don't think he did it because he cared, but because of his public image. That is possible but so what? At least the comedian is back taking care of his 2 kids!

That is why I am writing this article. Sometimes Kenyans should think about the kids before they think about their own happiness and leave a relationship/marriage.

The stats about kids who grow up in single-parent homes are scary and painful to look at. I will list just a few below;

  • Single-parent families usually have less disposable income.
  • Children of single parents oftentimes receive less effective parenting and discipline.
  • Most inmates in jails come from single-parent homes.
  • Most rapists come from single-parent homes.

The issues above are just some of the issues that that predominate when it comes to children from single-parent homes.

CAVEAT: You shouldn't stay in a relationship/marriage when there is physical abuse!
