The reason Nameless and Wahu are facing more trolls and critics like never before!

Nameless and Wahu have been a fixture in our entertainment scene for the past two decades. The couple has been married for 15 years and rarely if ever look out of step, always showing a unified front to the public.

Kenyans for their part have been eager to be the couple's biggest cheerleaders with the two avoiding the type of trolling that other prominent celebrity couples like Bahati and Diana Marua or Dj Mo and Size 8 have been subjected to.

But lately, I have been seeing some stirrings that the couple might be getting some detractors. This past weekend, Wahu had to shut down bullies online who started criticizing her after she had posted an image of herself in a bikini. (Wahu, Nameless and their two daughters were down in Malindi on vacation)

A section of Kenyans criticized her pointing out that she was ‘half naked’ because she was in a bikini.

The negativity, it is because "you say that you sing gospel" just that you are half-naked to the people you'll want to preach to, they have already slept with you that's the sad truth,” wrote one user.

The singer addressed the criticism in her comment section by posting a picture of herself with a dress sarcastically asking her followers if they felt this was a decent option to them?

“Dear stone throwers when my hubby posted this the other day... everything is ok....but when I post people start catching feelings...it's such a biiiiig shame that there are things that are acceptable for a guy to share but when a women does the same....shida tupu! Search your soul and ask yourself if sexism is disturbing your heart. Ni hayo tu ,” wrote Wahu.

Wahu's husband Nameless also came out with a lengthy post in defense of his wife, writing,

Haiya.. kunendaje hapa .. manze I have just come and found many comments juu nimevaa nguo mob kwa beach , ama 😳😳.. Aki poleni sitavaa jeanz kwa beach Tena🏃🏿‍♂️🏃🏿‍♂️🏃🏿‍♂️🏃🏿‍♂️🏃🏿‍♂️🏃🏿‍♂️...

Anyway on a serious note, i know we have very different opinions on what and how people should dress and act in life …..I don't see anything wrong with wearing a costume at the beach but that me and my family .. you really don't have to agree with it. I probable don't agree with many of your negative comments here but I don't argue try and argue too much about opinions cause we all have different experiences and perspectives. Blessup and learn for different perspectives . 👊🏾👊🏾💯

I have a different take on this. While I do agree that there is sexism endemic in the reaction to Wahu's post, there is also something else at play.

I believe their new docu-reality show "True Love" that Nameless and Wahu have been participating in has put a bulls-eye on them. They have inadvertently exposed a chink in the armour, a fault in our stars.

The show has had its advantages for the couple like increased fame, clout and money. The negative is that increased exposure to the public makes them think that they know who you are and as such are allowed to criticize your marriage/life.

Just look at the way Dj Mo and Size 8's reality show ended in a hot mess in 2020 or even Bahati and Diana Marua's own show.

Fame comes with benefits and its own problems or as departed rapper Biggie used to say, "More money, more problems".
