The police service has dismissed the viral video of a police officer being snatched a phone.

According to the National Police Service, no officer lost his phone in the manner portrayed in the video.

"Our investigations have revealed that a video circulating on social media insinuating to be of a police officer being snatched a phone is a manipulated video whose intention is malicious. We urge members of the public to ignore it," the police service wrote.

In the video that had gone viral on social media platforms, a police officer manning traffic at an undisclosed road in Nairobi lost his phone to thieves.

The officer was speaking on his phone when three men on a Boda Boda approached him cunningly and from the look of things, they snatched it.

This video raised serious concerns on the safety of city dwellers.

Many Kenyans felt that, if a police officer can be mugged, then no one is safe in the city.
