Two children are fighting for their lives at Nyahururu County Referral Hospital after they were stabbed by their father in Ziwani estate Nyandarua County following a family dispute Saturday evening.

Ken Mburu is said to have run berserk and stabbed the two girls aged seven and two, set their house ablaze and then attempted suicide by stabbing himself.

The 7-year- old suffered 10 stabs on the back, and her younger sister two stabs also on her back.

Mburu who stabbed himself on the stomach is also admitted to the same hospital. 

According to neighbors, the inhuman act was triggered by a quarrel that the assailant had with his wife the previous night, after which she escaped living behind the children. 

“Neighbors heard the children wailing and suspected they were being attacked. A boy who arrived at the scene found the two-year-old girl wailing painfully, while calling for her mother, while the older girl was pleading with their father to stop. He begged the man who had already set the house ablaze to stop hurting the kids,” area assistant chief Mary Kimani said.

Kimani said the father stabbed himself on seeing the neighbors who rescued the minors and rushed them to the hospital. 

She said angry neighbors wanted to lynch the man but he was rescued by police officers from Mairo Inya police station and rushed to hospital.
