Two families in Narok North and Transmara East sub-counties are in mourning after a teenage boy and a septuagenarian committed suicide On Thursday in unclear circumstances.

Confirming the incidences, Narok county Police Commander Mr John Kizito Mutoro said in the first case, the body of an 18-year-old Brian Samaito Mateu was on Thursday night found hanging on a rope in his parents’ house in at Nkokolani village in Narok North sub-county.

It’s not clear what drove the teenager who just cleared Form Four in March this year at Masikonte Secondary School on the outskirts of Narok town and was waiting to join college, to commit suicide but police are investigating the matter.

The body of the deceased has been moved to Narok Referral Hospital mortuary pending postmortem and further investigation into the incident as the family prepares for the burial.

Elsewhere, the body of 77-year-old Mama Juliana Cheptanui Sirwa was also found hanging on a rope in her house in Kabuson village in Mogor area in Transmara East on the same night.

She is said to have been ailing from throat cancer for some time. But the matter is still under investigation.

The body of the deceased has been moved to Kapkatet  Hospital mortuary in Kericho county pending postmortem and further investigation into the incident.
