"Until death do us part!" is the vow that lovers take during their wedding day.

However, many relationships have not waited for the grave to break.

Instead, they have ended because of emotional and physical abuse.

On many occasions, women are the ones who suffer from abuse in relationships. 

This does not dispute the fact that there are men who are victims of emotional or physical abuse in their relationships/marriages. 

And when the bed of roses turns toxic, many have chosen to walk out;

Saumu Mbuvi

The daughter of Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has walked out of two relationships that she described as toxic. 

Saumu broke up with her baby daddy, Gatu, and later on Senator Anwar Loitiptip over what she termed as abuse. 

In Anwar's case, Saumu said the Senator was physically abusive, showing photos to prove how he suffered in his hands.

Anne Kiguta

The former news anchor's first marriage was an abusive one and she managed to walk out when her daughter was 3 years old. 

One day, she was left with marks on her face just before appearing on TV, that's when she reached her limits. 

“I decided to move on for my baby and myself. At least I was financially stable when I walked out. Dependence is what traps many women in abusive relationships."

Vera Sidika

Socialite Vera Sidika described her relationship with Tanzanian doctor Jimmy Chansa as one of her terrible experiences. 

Even though she did not fully describe what transpired, Vera said she had enough of the experience.

"One of the most unfortunately traumatic experiences i have ever had amongst all my relationships. Never judge a book by its cover and sometimes the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know."

Betty Kyallo

The TV siren's marriage to Dennis Okari did not last a year over what Kyallo's family termed as abuse. 

After it ended, Betty's brother said;

“Women go through so much pain and society ignores this. Pain may come from an unappreciative family in law, dishonest partner, and spousal abuse."

Niccah the Queen

Comedian Dr Ofweke's baby mama left him because of his abusive behavior. 

Niccah said that Ofweneke was physically abusive.
