• "When Bob died, Victor and other bikers came home to pay tribute. He was a gentle soul."
Wambui Kamiru Collymore has paid tribute to one of her close friends who died in a road accident.
Victor Munene Githinji, 30, was on May 6, 2021, hit by a vehicle that was being driven by Robert Ndegwa Ngugi, who is the senior deputy director of legal services at NTSA.
According to court documents, “Robert Ndegwa Ngugi on the 6th day of May 2021 at about 8pm, along Kiambu Road at Muthaiga North Road junction within Nairobi County, being the driver of motor vehicle registration number KCS 300C make Toyota Land Cruiser, drove the said vehicle along the said public road at a speed or manner which was dangerous to other road users.”
Victor was rushed to St Teresa Hospital in Thindigua, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Wambui paid tribute to Victor, "When I was looking into getting a motorcycle Victor allowed me to test drive his. When I opened my gallery, Victor came to celebrate with a bunch of other bikers.
When Bob died, Victor and other bikers came home to pay tribute. He was a gentle soul."
Adding, "He championed biker road safety and he taught a whole bunch of bikers how to ride off-road. He was generous and present. He is truly missed."
Here are some reactions to Wambui's tribute.
Bonnie Momanyi: Sad that we've lost him, the reason why I hate bikes, I better walk or run. Rip
Victor Rubo: You can still be killed by a reckless driver even while walking or running bro
Lindah Oguttu: So sorry
Peter Muthaura: So sorry for the loss. It amazes me, this thing called death. It is selfish. Takes the best, leaves behind the thugs, the brutal, the selfish, the works. May he rest in peace.
Epic cashfil: May his soul rest in peace, the law should be more strict since these cases are becoming common. Riders remember to put on their safety gear and be visible.
