Ex-con hacks grandmother to death

He trailed his granny as she headed to the market

Police are looking for a 35- year-old ex-prisoner who allegedly killed his 70- year-old grandmother at Usalala village, Kisau location, Mbooni East Sub-county, Wednesday morning.

According to police reports Matolo Munyao who was armed with a machete trailed his granny, Kasavi Munyao, as she headed to Mbumbuni Market at 9.00am and slashed her to death.

Confirming the incident, Makueni County Police Commander, Joseph Ole Naipeyan, said the deceased had sustained multiple deep cut wounds on the neck, head and left hand.

Ole Naipeyan said the reason for the attack was not immediately established and the suspect who had just been released from prison fled immediately after the incident.

 “The suspect ran away with the killer weapon and police have launched a manhunt to trace him,” said Ole Naipeyan.

The County Police Commander disclosed that a coat with bloodstain believed to belong to the suspect was found outside his house, adding the elderly woman’s body was moved to Makueni County Referral Hospital Mortuary for preservation and post-mortem.
