The 39-year-old passed away within 48 hours after she was admitted at the Agha Khan hospital.

Dr Adisa notified her friends through a WhatsApp group that she had tested positive for Covid-19 and was about to be intubated.

Intubation is the process of inserting a tube, called an endotracheal tube (ET), through the mouth and then into the airway. This is done so that a patient can be placed on a ventilator to assist with breathing during anesthesia, sedation, or severe illness.

Giving the daily Covid-19 updates on Friday, health CS Mutahi Kagwe eulogized the late medic.

'We have today for the first time lost a medical doctor to the coronavirus disease. I’m deeply saddened by this because she contracted the virus while working to save the lives of others who had contracted the virus,' he said.

Kenyans from all walks of nature have paid touching tributes to Dr Adisa and MP Davido Ole Sankok praised her for being brave, trying to save her countrypeople.

'RIP Colleague - Dr. Doreen Adisa Lugaliki,

On behalf of my family, my self and on behalf of 6.5 million Kenyans with disabilities I represent in parliament, let me register my deepest condolences to Doreen's family, her friends and to the Kenya medical practitioners pharmacists and dentists board.

It is so sad that a great doctor who saved many from Covid-19 succumbed after contracting the deadly virus in the line of duty,

She was brave,

She was dedicated,

She was passionate,

She was a professional and true to her calling,

She gave her all to the ailing humanity.

It took her family 23 years of paying school,

8 years of primary school,

4 years of secondary school,

7 years of medical school,

4 years of training as a gynecologist,

It took her 23 years of studying and toiling,

All shattered because she decided to take a bullet on my and your behalf,

Her gentle heart brought to a sudden stop by an invincible enemy,

Her breath squeezed out of her young beautiful body by the world tiniest living thing.

She was on the frontline to perform a solemn duty,

She took the bullet on my behalf,

She took the bullet on your behalf,

She took the bullet on behalf of all,

She took the bullet on behalf of our leaders,

She worked where many could flee if given that chance.

Regardless of the tiring working conditions,

Regardless of the insufficient protective gear against the virus,

Regardless of unappreciative leadership,

She did her best,

She dared to save others while risking her life,' read his post.
