A group of university students who went out partying on Friday night have landed in hot soup for using an ambulance to avoid arrest.

Mpasho has learned that one of the parents of the students is a big boss at Kenya Redcross. He instructed the paramedics to go pick the students and drop them home.

Some of the students from the posse are said to be from Riara University.

Boniface Mwangi exposed them in a tweet saying,

"Yesterday a @KenyaRedCross ambulance driver and a paramedic were called by their boss past the curfew to go pick a patient. The patient was their bosses son and his drunk friends and the mission was to take them home. Here is a video shared by the kids. Over to you

@MOH_Kenya."

E-Plus managing director Susan Ng'ong'a responded to the tweet by putting out a press statement.

It read in part,

"Our attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media platforms indicating that one of our ambulances was used inappropriately."

Adding,

"We wish to confirm that preliminary investigations show that in the evening of 17th April 2020. An ambulance was deployed for purposes other than provision of pre-hospital services. The individuals carried in the ambulance were not in need of any pre-hospital services. This Was in violation of our standards protocols for service and the laws of Kenya."

The statement continued,

"We have taken disciplinary steps against our staff who have been implicated in the incident. We further encourage the law enforcement authorities to apply the full extent of the law and hold those culpable accountable."
