Granny arrested with 2m stolen in 72m money heist (Photos)

Officers from the Special Crime Prevention Unit have recovered 2,389,000 out of the Ksh 72 million stolen at Standard Chartered Bank.

The police who were acting on a tip off conducted an operation at Muumandu area in connection to the robbery at Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Nairobi.

The robbers who had posed as police officers robbed the bank of 72 million.

Police arrested one John Kamau Mulei the brother to one of the suspects namely Benard Mwendwa who was detained on 12/09/209.

The said John Mulei lead them to the house of his grandmother Mary Kyalo aged 60 years in Muvuluti location.

It is here where they recovered two million, three hundred and eighty-six thousand shillings (2,389,000)   in denominations of 1000 new Kenyan currency from her house.

She was arrested and taken to Langata Police Station alongside Benard Mwendwa.

Other people who had been arrested in connection to the robbery were Constables Chris Ayienda and Vincent Owour in Kisii and Kendu Bay.

The detectives recovered Sh3 million from Constable Owuor’s house in Kendu Bay, while Sh4 million was recovered from Constable Ayienda in Kisii.
