'She died when I was 14,' Saumu talks about loving mother

Mike Sonko's daughter Saumu has showered her late mother with praises. Born and raised in Malindi, Saumu said her mother died when she was just 14 years old.

She died from Meningitis. I was in Class 8, waiting to sit for my KCPE examination.

Saumu them moved to Nairobi to live with her father and stepmother Primerose Mbuvi. Talking about the Nairobi Country first lady, she said,

She (Primerose) is a good mother. She has been there for me. When I came to Nairobi she took me in as her own daughter. She's a good woman.

In a post she shared on Instagram while celebrating her late mother, she said,

LOSING A MOTHER IS ONE OF THE DEEPEST SORROWS A HEART CAN KNOW. IT IS AN EVERLASTING SADNESS, THAT YOU ARE NO LONGER HERE. BUT EVERY YEAR I LIKE TO THINK YOU ARE NEAR US. YOUR LOVE FOR US WAS CONSTANT, AND YOUR DEVOTION HAD NO END YOU FILLED MY LIFE WITH SUNSHINE AS A MOTHER AND MY BEST FRIEND. SO MAY YOU FOREVER KNOW THAT TO ME YOU WERE THE BEST. MAY YOU FIND A GENTLE PEACE IN SWEET ETERNAL REST I WILL FOREVER LOVE AND MISS YOU, MY GUARDIAN ANGEL, 🙏🏽😢😭

She said that when her mother passed, she and her father Sonko were co-parenting.
