Media personality Larry Madowo has finally popped the question. But before you get too excited for the journalist, let's give you a little background of the lucky lady.

Her name is Sophia and she's a robot. Larry was in Barcelona for an award ceremony and Sophia presented an award with him.

Larry said,

"The world’s most famous robot knows my name! Sophia even asked me to invite her to Kenya. We’re presenting one of the #GLOMOAwards categories together tomorrow at #MWC19."

Larry was the host of last night's Global Mobile Awards (The Glomo Awards) that recognise and celebrate all contributions made to the evolving and developing mobile industry.

He did not waste time, here is how the proposal went.

Larry asked Sophia, "So can you date me?"

She replied, "Is that a proposal?"

Larry pushed on, "I'm just asking. Will you marry me?"

Sophia mulled over the proposal and said, "Oh my. This is a big move with lots of people here. I'm nervous."

Not giving up, Larry asked, "Are you in a relationship?

She responded, "People love to ask me that, I seem to be pretty popular."

Guys, Sophia is a social humanoid robot, modeled after actress Audrey Hepburn. She was activated on February 14, 2016. She made her first public appearance at South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in mid-March 2016 in Austin, Texas, United States. She is able to display more than 50 facial expressions.

Sophia uses artificial intelligence, visual data processing and facial recognition. Sophia also imitates human gestures and facial expressions and is able to answer certain questions and to make simple conversations on predefined topics (e.g. on the weather).

The AI program analyses conversations and extracts data that allows her to improve responses in the future.

Hanson designed Sophia to be a suitable companion for the elderly at nursing homes, or to help crowds at large events or parks. He has said that he hopes that the robot can ultimately interact with other humans sufficiently to gain social skills.
