The woman whose body was found next to that of the murdered IEBC ICT boss Christopher Msando has been identified as 25-year-old medical school graduate Mary Anne Wanjiru.
Ngumbu recently graduated from the Kenya Medical Trainning College in Karen and undertook her internship at a Naivasha hospital.
She is from Gachie, Kiambu county. Wanjiru and Msando were together last Friday and met at a Nairobi restaurant where they had drinks, waiters said yesterday.
Family members identified the body at the City Mortuary, a day after Msando’s body was identified by relatives.
Her body had visible injuries around the neck and wrists, an indication she could have been tortured before she was killed.
Family members were too shaken to speak to reporters at the mortuary.
Sources close to the family said Wanjiru had arrived in Nairobi from Naivasha and called her sister to inform her she would be visiting Gachie after a meeting. She, however, did not tell her sister whom she was meeting.
The sources said Wanjiru met Msando at the newly opened bar on Koinange Street at around 9pm, 10 minutes after CCTV cameras recorded his car leaving Anniversary Towers. Wanjiru and Msando left at about 10.20pm.
