Today will mark the second year that Kenya's popular political family will celebrate the birthday of their late son, Fidel Castro Odinga.

Prolific politician and leader of opposition, Raila Odinga and wife, Ida lost their son in 2014. Fidel was found dead in his house at Windy Ridge, Karen after a night out with friends. The cause of death was never revealed.

The news saddened the country that rushed to send comforting messagesto the family. Fidel left behind a son with Eritrean wife Lwam Getachew whom he wed in 2012 at the Othodox church.

Today is Fidel's 43rd birthday. His mother penned a message for him. Ida wrote, "Although you are physically gone, you are spiritually alive in our hearts and in our thoughts. Rest in peace. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FIDEL. We love you always in life and in death."

In another post, Ida shared a tear-jerking letter to Fidel from his 42nd birthday.

It read,

"Fidel Castro Odinga. Obwange wuod nyar Gem, 42 years ago today was the happiest day of my life. God has just blessed us with a bouncing baby boy. Today is the first time we celebrate your birthday without you being physically present, but you are ably represented by your son Allay whi is a mirror image of you and your wife Lwam.  Fondly missed by dad, yoyr sisters Rozzy and Winnie, your broter Raila Jounior and Yvonne, your nieces Saphnie and Senayi, your entire family and friends. Constantly in our thoughts and forever in our prayers. Wuntil we meet again, Happy birthday, Nind mokwe wuod nyar Gem,” it was signed,  Mum
