Photo Of The Week: Julie Gichuru Meets The Most Talented 16-Year-Old Race Car Driver

TV personality Julie Gichuru has met the young Kenyan Formula 1 racer who represented the country majorly at the UAE Championships. 16-year-old Tejas Hirani started Kart-racing at the age 9. He has since rapidly gained traction. His mentor has been a key player in his success.

Tejas started his journey back in 2010 at the Solai racing track. He rose through the ranks in his class and got to tour the UK and UAE to showcase his talent.

Last year, he passed the BMW Rookie Test and was admitted to the Formula BMW Academy. However, the initiative was discontinued. He opted for other opportunities and was lucky enough to get a place in the Formula Gulf for the FG1000 series in Dubai.

Tejas has won numerous awards, both locally and Africa-wide. He was leading in the 2014 National Autocross Championships, the National Rally Raid Championships and took second place in the UK National Rallycross Championship - fourth round.

Apart from racing, he also has interested in diving, football, basketball and camping.
