2 Bodies Recovered Following A Boat Accident In Lake Victoria

At least two bodies have been recovered after a passengers boat collided with a fishing vessel at Remba Island, Lake Victoria, Homabay County.

According to Homa Bay County Police Commandant John Omusangia, only two bodies have been retrieved from the lake.

“There are rumors spreading around about the number of causalities in the early morning accident in Lake Victoria, but at the moment I can confirm that only two bodies have so far been retrieved from the lake,” said the Commandant.

Police say further investigations have showed the boat was carrying 23 people at the time of the accident.

It had ferried 200 passengers to Remba and was coming with 23 back to Kiwa when the incident happened. The fishing boat had four people and have all have been accounted for.

So far, 21 of those who were in the passenger boat have been rescued. This means only two died in the accident and no one is missing.
