ITV News has obtained an exclusive footage showing an aggressive gun battle between the al-Shabaab militants and Kenyan security forces at the KDF Camp in Lamu that left 11 Al Shabaab militants and 2 KDF soldiers dead.

According to ITV News, British national Thomas Evans; who is believed to have converted to Islam aged 19, was the one filming during the raid before he was hit during the fierce gunfight.

The footage also offers a unique insight into how the terror group prepare for attacks against Kenyan security forces.

In one clip, dozens of armed militants - including Evans - can be seen embracing and chanting as they prepare for the attack. 

The video is a short clip of the gun exchange between the Kenya Defence Forces and the Al Shabaab militants and shows how the British national discovered that bullets aren't to be confused with popcorn.
