The park was officially commissioned on December 9, 2014 in a tree planting exercise.
The event which happened in the city of Lima was led by Rodolfo Beltran and Wanjira Maathai (Project Leader of the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace & Environmental Studies) as part of the United Nations Framework Convention On Climate Convention (UNFCC) COP 20 Events.
