Ladies and gentlemen, frogs and toads, I would like to introduce you to John Mulatya, a 24 year old 4th year Mechanical Engineering student at JKUAT or more colloquially, the6th Mpasho iPhone 6 winner. And this is one of those stories that are in the mould of "feel good articles" I rarely get the chance to post.
A week ago, John Mulatya was jacked of his phone and was reduced to using a "mulika mwizi" phone:
But when he caught wind of the Mpasho iPhone give-away, he decided to participate after seeing the first 3 winners receive sealed iPhones. He opted to comment, watch videos and share stories -though he was doing so on a unique platform, Google +, he still got what he had set his mind on. Fortunately for him, JKUAT are currently on a break after going on a strike so he had all the time in the world to make something happen.
Describing this his win as "the ultimate upgrade", John Mulatya indulged me in a little of what he is upto and I was immensely impressed to find out that not only is he an ardent AIESEC member, he even has an award named after him, The John Mulatya Excellence Award which is handed out annually to outstanding AIESEC (JKUAT chapter) members and this year will be handed out at an end of year gala on the 5th of December.
