Legendary Footballer Dies After Short Illness. KIFO Hakina Huruma, Hata Kidogo

The Kenyan sporting world is mourning the death of one of their own. The newly signed Sofapaka Midfielder Mannaseh Orao Ojwang has passed on after a brief period of illness.

Kifo kweli hakina huruma. The 26-year-old Mannaseh Orao Ojwang had just joined batoto ba mungu side during the January transfer window reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday, 4th February 2017.

Ojwang had penned a two-year deal from relegated Nairobi City Stars.

According to a press statement from his club, the player, leaves behind a wife, Elizabeth Achieng and two children.

The release reads in part;

"On Saturday 4 February, the club woke up to sad news that one of our players, the newly signed Mannaseh Ojwang Orao is no more. Ojwang was ill for two weeks and was granted sick leave to excuse him from training. His situation got worse on the night of Friday 3 February and on Saturday 4 February during the teams morning training session we received the news of his demise."

It continued, "At 26 years, Mannasseh was full of promise with his best times of his career ahead of him. He had a lot of hopes in the club and his future. This is a sad moment for us as a club because Orao had just signed a two year deal with us from City Stars and as we condole with the friends and family of our departed comrade, the club hierarchy assures to stand with the players family at this trying moment."
