Nairobi governor Mike Sonko said on Thursday afternoon that bhang should be officially legalized.

He said this during the memorial service held at the Moi Girls' High School.

Ken alikua rafiki yangu mkubwa sana...Ken amelala hapa sababu ya cancer, Bob Collymore, ilimbeba, Gavana Laboso cancer ilimchukua. Cancer ni adui mkubwa taifa la Kenya.

Mheshimiwa then left the mourners applauding after adding that;

Ken alikua na mswada wa maana sana. Watu wanaogopa kuongea vitu controversial, mimi nitaongea. Huyu ndugu yetu alitaka ku-legalise marijuana ama bhangi. Ikona dawa ya cancer.

He then went on to tell the young waheshimiwas like Babu Owino, KJ and Jaguar to continue fighting for marijuana to be legalized, adding that it should come from Jamaica.

Endeleeni na hiyo mswada bhagi ikue legalised. Na mnaona pia rais anaenda jamaica na ikipitishwa tutahakikisha ile bhangi safi inakuja kutoka Jamica kama ndio italeta dawa ya cancer.

Okoth succumbed to late-diagnosed colorectal cancer on Friday last week at the Nairobi Hospital.
