In a series of videos he shared on his Instagram account, he said he and some of the characters left Machachari back in January.

Many people are asking me 'what happened to my previous show Machachari but I don't know what to say. I left the show in January.

The show had started receiving criticism over the age of the characters, with many claiming it was no longer relevant to its target audience.

Addressing that, Govi said,

Rumours going round that we had overgrown the show aaah...don't listen to such cr*p. The truth is that the show is no longer on and we feel bad but it's okay. Everything that has a start has an ending.

Adding,

This was my childhood dream and now it's time to reach my ultimate goal. Let the ending not be centered on us (Baha, Fatso, Stella and I). We left the show in January. Please give us space.

THE STORY CAME TO AN END. THIS FRIDAY IS THE GRAND FINALE.

The show started as a kids’ show but the characters outgrew it.

IT DIDN’T EVOLVE TO REMAIN RELEVANT TO THE TARGET AUDIENCE, AND THE BEST WE COULD DO IS DEVELOP THE STORY TO COME TO AN END SO THAT WE CAN START A NEW SHOW  (‘JOHARI’) FOR THE SAME TARGET AUDIENCE,” NGIGE SAID.

Adding,

We had several counselling sessions, mentorship, and preparations for them to move on.
