A 49-year-old secondary teacher from Kimugul village, Sotik Sub-County has died in a suspected suicide incident.

The body of the former male teacher at Ndamama secondary school (name withheld) was found floating in a nearby dam Thursday morning.

The incident is said to have happened after the deceased arrived home from school Wednesday and asked his herdsman about his dairy animals, before retiring for the night.

According to area Chief John Kiget, the late teacher left a simple note on his side bed table with his Imarisha Savings and Credit Co-operative Society (Sacco) account written on it and asked his family to remain united.

Kiget said the departed has been under treatment for some time now, suffering from a disease he did not reveal.

The chief said his family members were stunned as he had not presented any suicidal predispositions.

However, Kiget asked members of the public to share any personal or mental problems they may be having for possible assistance, instead of resorting to suicide.

The body of the deceased was moved to Kapkatet Sub-County Hospital morgue as burial preparations got underway.
