Guys, Larry Madowo will be off the air for a full year.

He is taking a sabbatical from BBC where he was the Business Editor for Africa.

Larry Madowo took to Twitter announce why he will temporarily exit from BBC

“Hard to believe that I’ve got just 3 weeks left with the BBC before taking a break to be a full-time student again at Columbia University. New York City, I’ll see you soon but for now, Nairobi, be nice to me,” he wrote on his twitter handle.

Madowo is one of the lucky few selected to be part of the 44th Knight-Bagehot fellowship in Business and Economics at the Columbia Journalism School in Newyork’s Columbia University for the 2019-2020 academic year.

It is not clear though is Madowo will go back to BBC once his fellowship at Columbia University will be over.

Reacting to the news, one fan, @henrywamae, asked Madowo, "Could I take your position? Unemployment is sucking the life out of me."

While another added, "Son of the soil provided you are alive nothing can worry us."
