A family in Kibera, Nairobi county is mourning the death of their breadwinner Ibrahim Abdullahi Mohamed. He was among the 32 Kenyans who perished in the Ethiopian airline ET 302 crash on Sunday.
Mohamed, who was working in Saudi Arabia, was coming back home for holidays when he met his untimely death. His father Mr Abdullahi told Citizen TV, his son used to come home every February, but this year, he told them he would push his leave to March because there was a lot of work to be done.
According to his mother, they last spoke on Tuesday. She told the media:
Mara ya mwisho tuliongea siku ya Ijumaa (Tuesday) akiniuliza ‘Mama nikuletee zawadi gani?. Nilkamwambia zawadi yeyote tu nitashukuru.
His sister described him as a social, funny and loving man.
The 38-year-old, who was a die-hard fan of Kenyan premier league reigning champions Gor Mahia FC and EPL’s Arsenal FC, leaves behind a widow and three children.
Abdullahi’s friends have flooded his Facebook page with messages of condolences to his family. Check out the message:
