Cases of mothers dying immediately after giving birth (maternal death) are on the rise.

Just a few months ago, we lost a young vibrant mother, Dru Sonko, who died after giving birth leaving Kenyans with more questions than answers.

In this day and age why are our mothers dying and the rate of maternal death that high? Why does this still happen even after the first lady launched the Beyond Zero campaign?

Well, another Kenyan woman Alice Maina passed away on July 7 following complications after childbirth.

Alice gave birth to triplets namely; Kiama, Thayu and Gakenia but unfortunately she died after her health began deteriorating, six days after giving birth.

Alice's husband Victor Maina has taken to social media to mourn her and here is the emotional message he shared.

"The love of my life is gone. Alice Maina I will always love you to the moon and back hun. Our triplets will know you loved them and sang for them every day since birth. I will not let you down"

So sad!
