The 6th of September is a day that comes with many bad memories for Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko.

On this very day, the flamboyant politician lost his father Mzee Gideon Kioko Kivanguli - a man he says was not only his father but also a close friend.

Sonko's father passed away at Nairobi Hospital where he had earlier been admitted after developing undisclosed complications.

A few days before he passed away, Sonko took to his Facebook page to ask his fans to pray for his father. He was later laid to rest on Tuesday 15^th September 2015, in Mua Hills, Machakos County.

Well, yesterday marked a year since his passing and whoever said time heals all wounds lied.

Sonko invited members of his family and his close friends at her rural home to pay tribute to his late his late dad.

Unlike his burial which was attended by prominent politicians including President Uhuru Kenyatta, the memorial was rather low key.

In attendance was Wambui Ng'ang'a who is said to be eying the Nairobi Women's Representative, Robert Momanyi (alias Robert Birdman) and other aspirants seeking Sonko's support.

The memorial started off with the guest giving speeches before proceeded to Mzee Kioko's graveyayrd where they laid wreaths.
