The media fraternity has added their voice to a plea from the family of former NTV news anchor Winnie Mukami.

The family needs at least Ksh 1.5 million before they can give their kin a befitting sendoff.

Winnie breathed her last at the Nairobi Women's Hospital on March 18, 2021 due to Coronavirus related complications after 7 days in hospital.

That week spent in ICU fighting for her life led to a huge accumulation of the hospital bill.

Former NTV news anchor Jane Ngoiri asked her followers to contribute to Winnie's farewell ceremony.

"Kutoa ni moyo...let's give our sister a befitting farewell."

The late Winnie worked for various media houses before she started her communications outfit called Winners Frontiers International Limited, which she ran until her death.

The late journalist was in 2018 appointed to the board of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) to serve for a period of three years.
