Vera Sidika and Otile Brown donated sanitary towels by the Da Place Foundation to Joyland Special Secondary School in Kisumu on Saturday.
The girls who are living with disability were also given adult diapers and underwears.
The Celebrated RnB artiste Otile Brown and popular Socialite Vera Sidika presided over the event which saw each girl receiving two packets of sanitary pads and panties.
Otile, Vera and the Foundation’s chairman Kennedy Ang’wen gave Sh50,000 to the girls as a token for lunch. The two celebs will tonight grace “Masquerade all white party” at the famous Club De Place” in Kisumu.
Ang’wen said distribution of towels is aimed at improving access to education where many less fortunate girls cannot afford sanitary products.
“We want to ensure that our girls do not miss classes every month because of lack of sanitary towels,” he added.
Vera said lack of towels make girls miss school thereby affecting their performance and urged all stakeholders to work together in supporting them.
Last month, the foundation made donations to Mama Ngina Children’s Home in Kisumu. They distributed clothes, food and non-food stuff including sanitary products to more than 400 children.
Some girls reportedly lose 20 percent of their education for this reason, making them more likely to drop out of school.
Here is how it went down:
