The late Joyce Atieno Aluoch - daughter to Kisumu West Member of Parliament (MP) Olago Aluoch - was finally laid to rest on Saturday, October 22.

A funeral service was held at Kisumu's ASK Show Grounds before mourners proceeded to the deceased's home in the outskirts of the city to bid their final goodbyes.

Joyce died in a grisly road accident along Lang'ata Road in Nairobi on Saturday, October 8.

Addressing journalists moments after he received the news, the MP said Atieno was driving to her home in the wee hours of Saturday when she lost control of her car.

The legislator also said that the police informed him that her daughter's car rolled several times before landing on the side of the busy road.

Atieno who served as a clerk at the Senate under the Energy and Delegation committee was reportedly rushing home to finalize arrangements of the committee's trip to the US.

Mr Aluoch said he last spoke to her one day before her passing when she apologized for not attending the weekly family meetings held on Friday in Nairobi.

Atieno - who was a lawyer by profession - was the eldest daughter and a second born child the Hon. Olago Aluoch. She is survived by her daughter.
