The high profile mysterious killings in Kenya as of now are shocking. From the slayings of Jacob Juma to Chris Msando and now we are still seeking answers to who what really happened to Monica Kimani. These are just but a few cases I have mentioned.

Chris Msando's death was one we will never forget because of the timing (just before the 2017 election) and the fact that he was the IEBC's ICT manager but mostly because of the cruel manner he met his death (he and his companion were tortured first before they were killed).

The police up to date have never given us or the family a definitive finding on the reason why he met his untimely end.

Mohammed Ali, known to many as the Jicho Pevu investigative journalist prior to becoming the Nyali MP, dug deep to try to uncover who really killed Chris Msando.

The Late Chris Msando was a key component in the IEBC sector in its digital operations. He had promised Kenyans a free and fair election come 8th of August 2017.

3 months before the elections, Chris Msando was given the duty of one, James Muhati who was suspended. He was dealing with everything technology in the 2017 elections conducted by IEBC.  Later he was asked to go back to work with no explanation to Kenyans weeks before the elections.

10 days to the election, Chris was reported missing. His wife whom he had spoken to through an SMS the night he'd gone missing says after Chris did not report home that night, she called her brothers and filled a report of a missing person.

The one thing Mohammed highlighted was that despite the fact that Msando is the only one who held the password to the machines at IEBC the machines started working just after he went missing under the account name of Msando.

Ezra Chiloba, IEBC CEO was questioned by John Allan Namu on the death of Msando 8 days to the election just when the password was created and he said:

i can tell you it had nothing to do with that. you know i can't say what i can say on the death and the system but There is no relationship. that is a safety preserver created by internal officers. there were claims chris had access to the KIMS which was not true. it was not true. very few people knew the controls to the KIMS very few people. it is until the eve of the election that passwords to the KIMS were released to the returning and field officers. even we have the passowr5ds but we do not use it. as far as i am concerned chris had nothing to do with the passwords

Chris' body was found in a forest in Kiambu a day after he was reported missing. He had gone through a lot of torture at the hands of his murders. From the marks on his neck to the cuts on his hands.

According to Mohammed Ali, police played a big role in hiding the death of Chris claiming it is all love gone sour.

From the investigative piece, the timeline on Chris Msando's death is as followers:

  • He left the office and went to a restaurant just below the IEBC offices
  • He then went to a club in town, Number 7, where he met, Carol(girl who was killed alongside Chris and another guy who later left Carol and Chris.
  • His car was then seen at Kenyatta Avenue with two people inside including a woman who was in red then went to Bunyala but 10 minutes later, the car is spotted with just one person, no lady.
  • The car is then seen on Thika road. This was the last time it was spotted before it was found in Roysambu.

An askari who was present when the car arrived in Roysambu says that he saw a light and followed the car which was parked by a guy who he identifies as a not so tall brown man.

Chris Msando's body was then reported to be in the mortuary and the family do not know who took him there.

When Chris' wife went to identify the body alongside her brother who saw him first then held his sister to see her husband.

She asked for his body to be unwrapped just to confirm and she saw three deep cuts that were still bleeding.

i noticed three deep well measured cuts on his forearm and i asked them to turn him and turn him again because she could not believe.

All she kept asking was "Why?"

Who did it and what she should tell her children?

why would someone do that and in that manner. don't you think he is a father in the least of being a husband? and that the children need him i still ask myself why

End of part one.
