So three ‘wise men’ from Gusii land over the weekend introduced a rather interesting idea for the 2017 general elections; Kidero for President.

They are Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka and his Borabu counterpart Ben Momanyi. In their wisdom they advised Kidero to start criss crossing the region to garner support to replace Raila Odinga and even possibly Uhuru Kenyatta.

But apparently city dwellers are yet to receive the memo. Recent polls rank the big city’s governor as the worst county boss, only second to Jack Ranguma of the city by the lake.

According to a survey by Constitution and Reform Education Consortium CRE-CO 53% of interviewed Nairobi residents said they are dissatisfied with Kidero’s performance since his election, while 67% are unhappy with Ranguma's.

Of the 47 Governor’s, Murang’a’s Mwangi Wa Iria was ranked top with a 71% approval rating with Bomet’s Isaac Rutto getting 63% endorsement from his county.

So yes it may be "Kidero for President" in the land of bananas, but potatoes still form the staple food in Nairobi.
