There have been a lot of talk about how it's hard to go international especially in music in Kenya. Many critics have attributed the problem to be lack of talent, mentorship, knowledge, funds, dreams or finding the right avenues to find support.

I personally think that it's the person's hard work and game plan that takes them far. That's how the likes of Miss Kenya 2014 Idah Nguma, Equity Bank's CEO James Mwangi, Kiss 100's Shaffie Weru, Financial Analyst Aly-Khan Satchu among other exemplar performers in careers made it.

The CNN feature talks about how the music industry has been boosted by Mdundo, a Kenyan based online music distribution that allows artistes to showcase their work and even sell their music. The platform is in its second year of operation but has doubled its library over the past one year, according to CEO and co-founder Martin Nielsen.

"Within the past 12 months, Mdundo's library has been five-doubling and is now including music from more than 12 African countries," he told CNN. Kenyan band Sauti Sol headlines the feature as the main artwork.
