We have in the past seen Kenyan men go out of their way to propose to their better halves. While some brought the roads to a stand still other kept it low profile.
Below are celebs whose proposals won our hearts with some proposing on Live TV.
Vivianne and Sam West
Over two years ago, Vivianne was left speechless after her then fiance Sam West proposed to her on live TV
She had simply shown up on the show to premiere and perform her new song Attention when her fiancé popped the question.
“You sang about a woman in love and I’d like to say that you have now made me a man in love. You have always made my heart go Teren Teren and I wish to ask. Will you marry me?” Sam inquired while on one knee.
Evidently surprised and with the crowd cheering them with congratulatory messages Vivian accepted the proposal .
“It’s every girl’s dream to find a man who gives you full attention @samwestke” Vivian responded.
The Citizen TV reporter was in the past married to Moses Njuguna Kanene.
In 2008, Kanene proposed by showing up at her workplace, leaving her in tears after the proposal.
On that day, Lilian’s knight in shinning armour showed up with a cake, bouquet of flowers and an engagement ring.
An equally flamboyant wedding soon followed. The couple sired a son in their union that lasted seven years.
Lilian is now a mother of two after getting engaged to Jared Nevaton.
Eight years later, after a turbulent marriage, Lilian headed to court to file for divorce.
In her divorce papers, she cited ‘adultery, cruelty and desertion’ as the chief reasons for calling it quits.
Bien and Chiki Kuruka
In 2019 Bien hired out an entire cinema, went down on one knee and popped the question to his Nigerian girlfriend Chiki.
The proposal that went down at Westgate Mall was witnessed by friends, among them ‘Night Nurse’ Tallia Oyando and fashion stylist Annabel Onyango.
The two are yet to have their flamboyant white wedding.
Terence and Milly Chebby
Terence brought Nairobi’s Kimathi Street to a standstill when he proposed to Milly.
The proposal started with Milly being confronted by police officers, and while she tried to sort out the matter, a group of friends pulled up with placards reading ‘Will You Marry Me?’
The couple met at the set of Churchill Show in 2013, where they both worked. Terence then worked as a creative director, while Milly worked as a floor manager.
Willis Raburu and Sally Mbilu
Sally Mbilu had dated Willis Raburu for a long time and many had predicted they would get married but they broke up before a wedding could happen.
Willis proposed with a ring worth Sh100,000 on bended knees.
But the relationship went off air in January of 2016. A year later, Willis exchanged vows at a private wedding with Mary Ngami just three months after engaging her.
Victor Peace proposed to his singer wife Cece Sagini on Live TV.
Professional photographer Victor Peace proposed live on television during a segment on the Trend.
The couple already tied the knot and are currently enjoying their married life.
King Kaka and Nana Owiti
Rapper Kennedy Ombima popularly known as King Kaka pulled a surprise on his sweetheart Nana Owiti during the launch of his album ‘Eastlando Royalty’ at Uhuru Gardens in 2019.
Like a fairy tale out of a Hollywood blockbuster, King Kaka called her on stage.
Fans at the event went wild expecting killer dance moves from the two, but minutes later, the Kaka Empire CEO was down on one knee with a ring on his hand, popping the question to the mesmerized Nana.
His proposal was met with a frenzy of cheers and flashes from phone cameras from the enthusiastic crowd as they captured the moment.
“Huyu dem amekuwa na mimi.Tumeteseka na yeye manze.Time nilikuwa naitwa Rabbit. Hio time hata sikuwa nimebuy ndai manze.
So ilikuwa nikienda kumcheki napanda gari za Kite (Kitengela) alafu nikishuka napanda boda…so that I can just spend time with you…Namuitanga wife na hananga pete. Will you be Mrs Ombima,” said King Kaka.
“Yes” responded Nana.
Kabi Wa Jesus and Milly
The celebrated couple are among celebs who got engaged on live TV.
Talking about his proposal Kabi said,
“During the proposal, I was very emotional but I thought I had to be strong because it was live on television. I had to keep my composure but I was so happy I couldn’t even keep calm.”
The couple already tied the knot and are blessed with a son.
