This is the bravest couple yet! Controversial Kenyan lesbian rapper Gammo Suspect has defied odds to propose to her girlfriend Timeka. It is not clear what this will spell for the same sex lovers, legally.
In Kenya, same sex marriage is not recognised. It is considered to be taboo and repugnant to [the] cultural values and morality of Kenya, and the state punishes same-sex sexual acts as crime. Under the constitution, it is addressed under "Unnatural offences" and if one is found guilty they are liable to imprisonment for seven years.
Gammo Suspect ignored the laws of the land and did what her heart desired most, which was to ask her girlfriend for her hand in marriage.
The controversial rapper is also one of the most vocal activists for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) rights in Kenya.
Gammo did not hide her love, She posted photos of their proposal on Twitter for all and sundry to see.
"You are the reason for the smile on my face, the laughter in my eyes, and the joy in my life. #LGBT
Gammo posted about the proposal...
"The surprise got her emotional, but that didn't stop her from saying yes. #LGBT
Timeka responded, "How could I say no? I love you so much and I just wanna spend the rest of my life with you Charming."
Adding, "You were chosen for me to love amongst the rest because I would love you the best."
